About Me

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I attended Calvin College where my interests focused on psychology and studio art. I am currently completing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College.

Counseling Style

I believe it is important to tailor my approach to therapy based on the needs of the client. Generally, I aim to develop a broad understanding, which embraces the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of each client. I enjoy hearing each person’s unique narrative and perspective, which in turn provides me with a fuller understanding of his or her world. This understanding helps me to more effectively collaborate, assist and encourage the client on the way to reaching his or her personal goals.

Specialties

Most of my clinical experiences focus on working with children and adolescents. Here at Heartland Counseling I hope to work with a wide range of clients. I also enjoy administering assessments to offer clients a greater understanding of themselves and to ensure the most effective therapeutic care is provided.

Hobbies and Interests

In my spare time I try to express myself through art in any form especially painting, photography and pottery. I love opportunities to get out in nature and appreciate it through biking, kayaking and spending time on Lake Michigan. On the weekends I try and spend time exploring downtown Chicago with my friends.

Favorites

My favorite TV shows include “The Office” and “Law and Order SVU”
